Henry Irving Hodes (1899-1962) was born in Washington, D.C. He received his commission in the infantry from West Point in 1920 and saw service in the Philippines with the 26th Cavalry from 1933 to 1936. He commanded the 112th Infantry, in 1944 and reached the rank of brigadier general in January 1945.
